Examination of the intersection of race, gender, and class in the digital world. Topics include: digital divide, online identity, social media, and the impact of technology on marginalized communities. Students will analyze and discuss the social implications of technology and digital media.

Personal Learning Experience

This course provided me with a critical understanding of the social implications of technology. Through various readings, discussions, and projects, I gained insights into:

  • The digital divide and its impact on different communities
  • Online identity and representation
  • Social media and its effects on society
  • Technology's role in social justice
  • Ethical considerations in technology development

The course helped me understand the importance of considering social and ethical implications when developing technology. The discussions and projects allowed me to explore how technology can both perpetuate and address social inequalities.
